Quartiere Liceto - www.quartiereliceto.it

Since its birth, in the first half of the XIX century, Liceto Quarter has always taken part in the celebrations honouring Our Lady of the Intercession, Patron and Protector of Recco.
It lays in the east part of Recco, its borders are the railway station southwards, via Roma westwards and torrent Ne northwards. On these hills, among old chestnut trees, there is its seat, “The Cottage of the Fireworks”, given by Gio Bono Zerega in 1896.
The followers of Our Lady in Liceto have always been very shy and reserved, but at the same time faithful to the traditions of their forefathers to celebrate in the best way the festival of 8th September.
An important fact dates back to 1949 when the procession had to go round the town twice before Liceto could kindle its “finale” which included 43 stops. More than that, the engineer of the fast train Rome-Genoa, which at 11 pm passed through Recco, astonished by the grandiosity of the fireworks, stopped the train of his own will to see the show.
Those were the days, now the festival has to comply to a new situation, but our story… goes on.
